This is an ad we ran having fun with those that would rather "do it yourself". The truth is that you cannot do your own dentistry and must place yourself in the hands of a professional. But how do you choose the right dentist, the right hygienist, the right office? We know it's a difficult decision and suggest the following:
First, ask your friends and neighbors who they would recommend. Ask how long they have been using the office and how satisfied they are.
Second, call the office you select and ask if they would provide a free or low cost consultation. This will allow you to visit the office, inspect for cleanliness, observe how they treat you, and how long you have to wait until you are seen by the dentist.
Lastly, take into account the experience of the dentist and his or her staff. A young "recent graduate" may not have the experience an older dentist may have, however, the older dentist must "keep up" with new technology. Don't be afraid to ask questions. Ask for before and after pictures of actual patients. These should be easily produced If the office is proud of the dental services they render.
